There are both good and bad sides to having a cigarette industry in Nepal:

The good aspects of having a cigarette industry in Nepal are as follows:

a) It reduces cigarette imports and increases exports which in turn increases the income of the nation.

b) It has created employment.

c) The government can collect ample taxes from the cigarette industry.

d) Many farmers in the Terai region produce tobacco and earn good income by selling it in the cigarette industry.

The bad sides of having a cigarette industry in Nepal are as follows:

a) A lot of the country's money has to be invested in health.

b) When there is a cigarette industry in the country, it becomes easily available and cheap, so many people become addicted to cigarettes, which destroys money and affects human resources.

c) It harms public health and people get diseases like cancer.

5. Discuss the economic activities of Bagmati Pradesh.

Bagmati is a more developed Province than other Provinces. The Province is famous for agriculture, industry, trade, services, tourism, etc.

a) The major hydropower projects of the country are located in this Province due to which there are many industrial corridors here. It has given impetus to various industries.

c) The majority of the people of this Province are engaged in various occupations of agriculture as the fertile lands of Terai, Inner Madhes and valley are very suitable for agriculture while on the other hand the influence of commercial farming has increased with the expansion of agricultural market.

d. Due to the development and expansion of government and non-government activities and services in this Province, there is diversification in employment as compared to other Provinces.

e) There are major business centers of the country like Kathmandu, Hetauda, ​​Narayangadha etc. where many people are engaged in business.

f) Due to the development of banking, private schools, colleges, business firms, private hospitals, technical colleges, etc., many people have found employment.

 

6. Why is Bagmati Province more developed in comparison to other provinces?

 It contains the capital city of Nepal Kathmandu. It is considered to be more developed in comparison to the other provinces. The reasons behind it are mentioned below:

i.  This province has good access to education, transportation, communication, health etc.

ii.        It contains cultivable land in Terai and minerals in hilly region. So, the raw materials required for the industries can easily be maintained.

iii.       There are more industries in this province, which produce the things required for the people.

iv.   The capital city as well as other important cities such as Patan, Bharatpur, Kathmandu, Lalitpur etc are located here.

v.        The main tourist centers are located there which attract a number of tourists every year.

vi.   There is no shortage of skilled manpower required for the development.

४. जनकपुर र वीरगञ्जमा चुरोट कारखानाहरु छन् । धुम्रपान मानिसको स्वास्थ्यमा हानी पु¥याउँछ । नेपालमा चुरोट उद्योग हुनु राम्रो हो कि होइन ? छलफल गरी आफ्नो निष्कर्ष निकाल्नुहोस् । 

नेपालमा चुरोट उद्योग हुनु राम्रा र नराम्रा दुवै पक्षहरु छन् ः 

नेपालमा चुरोट उद्योग हुनुका राम्रा पक्षहरु निम्न छन् ः 

क) यसले चुरोटको आयात घटाउँछ र निर्यात बढाउँछ जसले गर्दा राष्ट्रको आम्दानीमा वृद्धि हुन्छ । 

ख) यसले रोजगारको सिर्जना गरेको छ । 

ग) सरकारले चुरोट उद्योगबाट प्रशस्त कर असुल गर्न सक्छ । 

घ) तराई क्षेत्रका धेरै किसानहरु सुर्ती उत्पादन गर्दछन् र त्यसलाई चुरोट उद्योगमा बिक्री गरी राम्रो आय आर्जन गर्छन् । 

नेपालमा चुरोट उद्योग हुनुका नराम्रा पक्षहरु निम्न छन् ः 

क) देशको धेरै पैसा स्वास्थ्यमा लगानी गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ । 

ख) देशमा चुरोट उद्योग हुँदा यो सजिलैसँग उपलब्ध हुने र सस्तो हुने हुँदा धेरै मानिसहरु चुरोटको अम्मली बन्छन्, जसले गर्दा पैसाको नाश र मानवश्रोतमा असर पर्दछ । 

ग) यसले जनस्वास्थ्यमा हानी पु¥याउँछ र मान्छेहरु क्यान्सर जस्ता रोगहरुबाट ग्रसित हुन्छन् । 

५. वाग्मती प्रदेशको आर्थिक क्रियाकलापबारे चर्चा गर्नुहोस् । 

 वाग्मती प्रदेश अन्य प्रदेशभन्दा बढी विकसित प्रदेश हो । यो प्रदेश कृषि, उद्योग, व्यापार, सेवा, पर्यटन आदिको लागि प्रसिद्ध छ । 

क) देशका प्रमुख जलविद्युत् आयोजनाहरु यही प्रदेशमा रहेका छन् जसले गर्दा यहाँ धेरै औद्योगिक करिडोरहरु छन् । यसले विविध खालका उद्योगहरुलाई प्रश्रय दिएका छन् । 

ख) यस प्रदेशका बहुसंख्यक मानिसहरु कृषिका विविध पेसामा आबद्ध छन् किनकि तराई, भित्री मधेश र उपत्यकाको उर्वर भूमि कृषिको लागि अति उपयुक्त छ भने अर्कोतिर कृषि बजारको विस्तारसँगै व्यापारिक खेतीको प्रभाव बढेको पाइन्छ । 

ग) यस प्रदेशमा अन्य प्रदेशको तुलनामा सरकारी र गैरसरकारी क्रियाकलाप तथा सेवाहरुको विकास तथा विस्तारका कारण रोजगारीमा विविधता रहेको पाइन्छ । 

घ) यहाँ देशका प्रमुख व्यापारिक केन्द्रहरु जस्तै काठमाडौँ, हेटौंडा, नारायणगढ आदि रहेका छन् जहाँ धेरै मानिसहरु व्यापार व्यवसायमा लागेका छन् । 

ङ) यहाँ बैंकिङको विकास, निजी स्कुल, कलेज, व्यापारिक फर्महरु, निजी अस्पताल, प्राविधिक कलेजहरु आदिले गर्दा धेरै मानिसहरुले रोजगारी पाएका छन् ।
